I am curious, what is the best string gauge for solos?
Also, how do you adjust your neck or bridge to accommodate for the string gauge.. meaning how do you know which adjustments are going to be best?
I use Earnie ball regulars. The high E starts at .10. I wouldn’t go with anything lighter that .09 because you’ll get weaker sound and it tends to not stay in tune as well. Most great soloists play .09 to even .11. Work slowly when changing the action at the bridge to get it just right before it starts to buzz and check the neck for straightness, as well as intonation by moving the individual saddle pieces forward or back to get the 12th fret in tune with the open.
Go to wikipedia or Google for further explanations on intonation, guitar action, and truss rod on neck.

Is there any validity to my perception, that Toyota Motor Company has surreptitiously subsidized Consumer Reports Magazine?
Consumers Reports is not subsidized by any auto manufacturer, but they have for years had a bias against American made vehicles. They claim to be independent, but their corporate culture has a definite tilt towards certain car makers.
If you were to go to the local Ford owners club and ask them to rate Ford, Chevy, Honda and Toyota, you would expect that they would rate Ford highest. This is what happens when Consumers Reports hires only people who think the same way, and bring their own biases to the ratings

I’m looking into getting a tattoo on my inner right bicep. It will be either 3 or 9 words. I currently have a tattoo right between my shoulder blades and was wondering how you would compare the pain from experience.
Also, are they hard to heal? I’ve heard they take a while.
I don’t have any tattoos but my fiance has 8 in various areas on her body. She has one on her back also and one on her inner arm. From what she says after each tattoo, it all depends on YOUR pain tolerance and body. Some placements where there is a thin amount of skin can hurt a bit more. Also tattoos she’s said that are on or going over bones (ie. ribs, spine..etc.) can sometimes hurt more. But I gather from her that it just depends on the person.

As a TDI owner I’ll say this, these are very finicky cars. If they’re cared for properly, they’re absolutely bulletproof. There are a couple on the verge of a million miles, with a ton over 400,000 miles. Stay far far far away from the automatics from 99.5-03 though. The 01M is not a good trans for any engine, but is especially week when mated to the torquey diesel.
But if someone forgets a timing belt change, or does some improper maintenance, forget it, they’ll have problems until the day you sell it.
I really would suggest finding someone in your area who knows TDIs and having them look the car over before purchasing one.
