Anywhere you go in Italy you will be amazed, Italy is by far my favorite place in the world. When you go to Italy you must visit:
1. Venice! My favorite place in Italy, it is beautiful, and a place on the water!
2. Rome! Another favorite, Rome is also amazing, and will give you a good taste of city Italy!
3. Florence! Florence will also give you a good taste of Italy, and is very interesting.
You can get to all these places from eachother by train! Best of luck, and I hope you have a great time! Hope I helped! :D
References :
me! :D

Venice! It has canals, gondolas, etc. The city doesn't allow cars at all because the only way to get around is with the taxi boats.
References :
I didn't go to any beaches .......but I hear capri and sorrento are great.

I went to Verona, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Lucca, Siena, Montepulciano, Rome and Pompeii....also Pisa for the tower only as i heard there was nothing else to see there.

I can recommend them all....they all have something different to offer.Verona has a lovely setting, with the big collosuem ( so Roman history as well as romeo and juliette) there ( and operas in the summer time)
Venice is so different to all other cities....but is small!
Bologna, I didn;t see much of but has a medieval feel
Siena - also has a medieval feel but there are roman influences and was a nice place to visit
Montepulciano is a hillside village and was lovely.
Florence is busy and heaving with tourists but has some great things to see there. Its definately renaissance inspired
Lucca is a smaller version of florence about and hour or so by train but is lovely and a good place to eascape to
Rome has lots of roman stuff and things to see..eg vatican etc I did a day tour from here to Pompeii which I loved..we went thru Naples which did not look appealing.

Anyway I found lots to see and do there.....do some research as I missed out on places thru not doing my research!!!
References :
Venice is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Italy with winding canals, gondolas, and narrow streets for losing yourselves together. Besides the spectacular Piazza San Marco and cathedral, there are many small picturesque squares and churches. Venice has many romantic restaurants and cafes where you can linger. Venice is Italy's top destination for Carnevale festivals.Umbria, often called the Green Heart of Italy, has medieval hill towns, Etruscan sites, and nature parks. Umbria also has one of Italy's largest lakes, spectacular waterfalls, and an interesting mummy collection. If your interested.Italian Riviera villages like the Cinque Terre are popular coast destinations, especially in summer. With a relatively mild climate, most villages can be visited almost any time of year.
