What is the best age for twins to begin sleeping in seperate rooms?

I think it is best that twins share a crib until about 4-5 months of age and then should sleep in separate cribs but still in the same room. Also, I know around 2 is when they begin sleeping in a bed. What is the best age for them to begin having their own rooms? Btw, both bedrooms are very small–not large enough for 2 beds. So, they must separate between the ages of 4 months and 2 years–when is best?

My doctor said that we should do it know or before 6 months of age. Transitional periods are way easier now, rather than later when they develop personalities and can oppose the change. My boys love sleeping together so I am having trouble with separating them now. My plan is to wait a few months and have them share a crib (they are in a play pen now). Other piece of advise, they can stay together until they are psychically impeding each others sleep.
