What is the best way to learn acoustic guitar?

Hello–I am wondering wat the best beginner guitar and where to get free tabs and the BEST way to learn OTHER than lessons (too expensive). Thanks!

"Acoustic guitar" signifies NOTHING to me you have to be more specific!!

There are 3 types you see, classical, flamenco and steel. You need to specify which.

Anyway, steel is for people who are too stupid to understand complicated classical or flamenco music and is really really easy to learn just go to isohunt.com.

Classical and flamenco are for more intelligent people who can understand complicated music and require a teacher. They are very very hard and take about 12 years to bee just good at them.

I am self-taught. First you should have some ability to "play by ear" or hear the different chords being played. I would suggest learning some basic major chords and practice your chord changes and strumming rythym. Later on, you can get just about any song tab from the internet by searching google for it and try playing with a recording of the song. It can be frustrating when you first start, but if you keep at it you will be playing in no time! Good luck!

The best way is still to take lessons. Sorry. For everyone who is successfully self-taught there are ten people who gave up.

By far the fastest and easiest way to learn is to take some private lessons with an experienced instructor. Once you get a good handle on the fundamentals you can make the decision to either teach yourself or keep going with lessons.

I assume you’re into contemporary music and will be playing an acoustic guitar not a classical one (which needs more training). Start to pick out easy slow songs that you like and look up youtube (for instructional videos) and Ultimate Guitar. Also practice changing chords. Start with the major chords then minor chords and later power and bar chords. Work on your strumming patterns too. Start with 4/4 and 3/4 timing. As you progress, don’t be shy to try out new tricks like sliding, hammering, harmonics and scales.

Get a good guitar tuner too.

It’s always good to get a guitar camaraderie.
