What is this whole rating thing all about? Why do countries have ratings? And what is the purpose of it?

Ratings is how credit worthy a organization is. In this case a country, but it is also used for corporations. It is similar to your credit score.

The reason a country, or an organization has a credit rating is to give investors, or loaners an idea of how capable the organization is to pay back the debt.

If the US gets downgraded to a Bbb credit rating it is basically like saying that their is a greater risk that the US can no longer pay its debt. It is like your credit score going down.

I was wondering if any one knew what the trailer hitch rating is for a 1995 grand jeep cherokee. I ask this because I am looking into using one of those hitch mount motorcycle carriers. I tried looking it up but couldn’t find it. Thanks.

The factory 2" box hitch? around 3500 pull and 150 tongue

How does your buzz rating in Cafe World on facebook get higher? Is there any concept to this or does it just randomly chose for you? Any help is appreciated !(: thank you so much.

Buzz rating depends on how satisfied the customer is with your serving speed and quality.

If a customer comes to your cafe and can’t sit down or be served, you lose 1 buzz point. The same way, if the customer is happy with your service, you get +0.1 buzz.

To boost your cafe points, serve Chicken Gyro & Fries or Bacon Cheeseburger. The max buzz rating right now is 105

Hi
I would like to know that how the banks rating credit points / marks to give loans to their customers?

There are several parameters to award credit rating to a person. Some of them are:1) His standing in the business/service. 2)Experience in business/service 3) His ability to discharge obligations.4) Net worth. 5) In case of business /industry the extent of competition 6) Age in case of individuals ( i.e. older gets less marks )7) Dependents in case of individuals: person with lesser number of dependents gets more marks.8) Market opinion.9) Coverage of security to the loan
The parameters cited above are only indicative and not exhaustive. Depending upon the nature of loan and risk involved the parameters are extended to other areas also.

Despite a flawless payment history over the last 20 years, Citibank is raising my rate by 5%. I would easily give them the heave-ho, but I’ve heard that a long-standing credit card account has a positive effect on your credit rating. How big a hit would my credit rating take if I closed the Citibank account?

Your entire credit history with that card would be erased and this is not a good thing.

First, those 20 years should give you some power with Citibank. Call their customer service number on the back of the card and tell them that you feel the increase is unjust in light of the fact that you’ve been doing business with them for 20 years and your account is in good standing. Mention that you’ve always paid your bill on time if that’s the case and any other Citibank accounts you have, if you have any. Sometimes the credit division of banks doesn’t realize that you’re also a bank customer and that may carry some weight.

If you can’t get anywhere with the customer service rep, ask to speak to a manager.

If this still gets you no where, go to bankrate.com and see what other credit cards’ interest rates are to open an account and tell them such and such bank is offering this low rate to new customers, and it hardly seems fair that they’re raising the rate for their longstanding customers. (I’ll bet Citibank themselves are offering lower rates to their new customers, while they’re trying to squeeze their old customers for money).

If all else fails, pay the card off even if you have to transfer the balance to a lower interest card. Then, so they don’t close the account entirely as some banks are doing on inactive cards, use the card once or twice a month for smaller purchases or necessities like groceries and pay off that balance at the end of the month.

They’re less likely to shut down the account if you have some activity on it and they’ll probably drop the interest rate after a few months to get you to spend more on their card.

What was the high octane rating for auto fuel in 1977 and was this unleaded?

Pretty much the same as today as far as available octane ratings. 87 to 91 is pretty standard, but certain stations in certain regions might have as low as 85, or as high as 92 or 93 or even higher.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating#Regional_variations

Way back when, higher octane used to be called Ethyl.

It made for some good dirty jokes about "pumping Ethel".

Unleaded gas was phased in fairly rapidly starting in 1973.

Insurance companys give cars a rating number to determine if one type of car pays more insurance then the other. Where can I find out what the number of my car would be?

no company is gonna give that to you…then youll know how they rate you…i work for an insurance company and we are STRICTLY prohibited form revealing your cars rating system…i can tell you this…think about logically…a new 2007 BENZ is going to be more expansive than a 1982 Civic (logic)…an SUV/truck can cause more damage than a reg 4 door sedan/coupe (2 vehicles are traveling at 50 mph, one weighs 5 tons, the other weighs 12 tons, they both hit the same car/object. which one wll cause more damage?…you do the math…) so they are more not less expensive to insure…its MOSTLY based on your driving history (tickets and accidents), annual miles driven (liability exposure, more driving=more chances for an accident) driving experience and the vehicle you drive…hope this helps

A site I’ve recommended in the past would be…
