Can you please help me out on this question…. How does prohibition compare to the current battle over the legalization of marijuana in the 1920s?
Battle is a bit strong of a word to is as there is no physical war. You may want to use ‘political struggle’ instead.

Battle? Where? Who?

There’s no comparison. An amendment was made to the constitution to ban alcohol that resulted in Prohibition. This was done primarily by people that were against drinking.
Today, although there are a few people that would like to legalize pot, there is no movement to amend the constitution to legalize it. With all the pitfalls associated with creating a constitutional amendment, it is unlikely that will ever happen.

Prohibition dealt with alcohol, which was a legal substance prior to prohibition. In a political gimmick, an amendment was added to the US Constitution to make alcohol illegal. Due to intense negative public opinion and the difficulty in enforcing the law, it was rescinded.
The legalization of marijuana is a debate over a simple law. It isn’t in the Constitution. There is no massive public movement in favor of the law’s repeal, and no pre-existing economy based on the sale of marijuana. As opposed to prohibition interrupting an existing commercial sector, marijuana sales weren’t big news until after it became illegal and, therefore, "cool."
These are the main differences between prohibition and marijuana.
