What could you compare mitochondria to in a castle/kingdom?

For biology we have to do a project where we compare a cell to a place or a thing. My group picked a castle and we are unsure about what to compare it to. The function of mitochondria is to convert the energy stored in glucose into ATP (adenosine triphosphate) for the cell, or in short produce energy for the cell.

What would be a good thing to compare it to and what are some decent reasons or arguments?

I would say a bakery because it takes glucose (ingredients in bread) and turns it into energy (bread). Good luck on the project!

  1. You could compare it to all of the food stocks within the castle. Since the food is the source of energy for the knights in the castle, so is ATP the source of energy for the cell.

    P.S. Knights love turkey legs

  3. well the mitochondria makes energy, at my school we always compare it to something like power plants. you could always try to make a water wheel, which can produce energy.
