		<description>Using denominators is confusing, since there&#039;s an inverse proportional relationship.  (i.e. the bigger the denominator, the smaller the fraction).

The numerator has a direct proportional relationship (i.e. the bigger the numerator, the bigger the fraction).

Therefore, it is quicker, easier, and less likely to cause mistakes when you use the numerator to compare fractions.
