    Background story it …
Background story it is. If fully realized it would lead the same situation. Machines rise to fight humans. Humans scorch the sky. Machines use humans.

  3. itaibh1 says:

    that’s not quite …
that’s not quite true, your similarity is based on the background story, not on the main plot. the central plot is completley different, the terminator plots around a machine which goes back in time, matrix central plot is on the virtual reality forcelly infused into humans and the specific machine that had a first purpose of controll but goes out of controll, much like the virtual reality the puppet master’s (his original purpose was controll too) ghost hack, and he too goes out of control.

What are you talking about, Ghost in the shell is from late 80′s and matrix came out in 1999.

  16. LeaTelamon says:

    Don’t you mean the …
Don’t you mean the other way around…? Ghost in the Shell predates The Matrix by several years, and Ghost in the Shell was just one by many inspirational sources. I love the fact that the Wachowski brothers took an anime influence, it gave the whole movie a different feel and seperated it from typical Hollywood action.

    The Matrix is …
The Matrix is arguably the most visible aspect of Hollywood from the late 90′s next to Titanic. It doesn’t have to be the best movie of all time, however dismissing the influence the Matrix had on action movies is highly ignorant.

  21. RENN357 says:

    who cares, the …
who cares, the matrix is ing rubbish anyway.

1 – passable, but only the action packed bits were good.

    Actually, all of …
Actually, all of these kinds of movies are heavily based on William Gibson’s sci-fi novel “Neromancer.” He coined the term “cyber-punk” and that book is a fantastic read and a great start to this epic genre. Don’t get me wrong, I love GitS and the first Matrix movie, both have their own unique features that make them fantastic ets to the science fiction genre.
