What did early Christianity offer people in comparison to traditional Roman Religion?
I have a few points:
- A moral code
- promise of eternal life (heaven)
Could you please help me out?? Thanks SO much xx
The early Christian Church, had many advantages over even churches today. They actually had members who had walked and talked with Christ. They knew of the Resurrection and the cross, and they knew what it stood for. Some had witnessed miracles, and presented themselves with great authority as ministers of the Gospel.
Romans were very much into idols. They had a god for this and a god for that, and that was the traditional Roman religion. Romans were men of law, and morality be damned, as long as you kept the law, you were accepted. There were some moral Romans but they were in the minority. Most of their gods, offered after death rewards.
Well, for one, salvation by faith in Christ, Not by doing enough Good deeds or works, but by accepting Jesus, unlike al other religions who had to have you DO something to earn your ticket, jesus earned it for you, this is unique.
