Where can I find a comparison of laptop manufacturers?

All the places I look seem to be about either laptop types (too broad) or specific laptop models (too specific). Where can I find a decent comparison between the actual manufacturers (Dell, Toshiba, Apple, Acer, etc.)?
Cost is only part of the question, I would also like to know which manufacturers in general will offer certain features.

That is a difficult task. Every manufacturer has its pros and cons. A particular model can only be compared based on the specs of a similar model from another manufacturer. Then comes build quality, design, brand popularity, price etc.

Make up your own required configuration, like processor, ram, graphics, hdd etc. Then find out models from different manufacturers with your set of hardware. Then finally compare them.

Hi you will not as that gives the game away.
cost is the governing factor most of the time and keeping your eyes open and visiting store which sell such things.
it is an ever changing market and so no one knows from one week to the next which one is the best.

I don’t know, I personally don’t like all the brand-names in laptops because they seem to be more interested in making money rather than making good computers that function for all. I recently had to install XP on a dell inspiron 1525 and it took 24 hours to just to get all the drivers, to alter the XP installation disk to it function and so forth.. It’s just horrible!

If you want to customize your computer you might want to check out alienware gaming laptops.
