Here is a video review of the very expensive nikon 70-200vr lens (about £1300). I have also done some comparisons against the nikon 18-200vr lens (about £600)
Lens is rented from Calumet. Their website is www.calumetphoto.com and their store in edinburgh is on Bonnington road (near leith)
the rental charge was just under 50 pounds for a day but also for a weekend as long as it is handed back by 10am on monday

Can u please do a review on sigma 70-200mm f2.8 . Some people say it’s faster and better that the nikon one.
Actually it’s …
Actually it’s pronounced ‘bo’ (as in the beginning of bottle) ‘ke’ (as in the beginning of kettle), so I’m afraid you’re both wrong. That’s how the Japanese pronounce it, and since it’s their word, the ‘correct’ way is their way. Like any word however (e.g. ‘Paris’), foreigners inevitably coin easier (and less embarrassing) ways to say them. In this way, none of the foreign ways of pronouncing bokeh can be said to be better than any other.

when would a …
when would a monopod be helpful, in what situation? and how does it help anyway? so your 18-200 have a little bit of dust after 2 years…once we get it cleaned, how long will the dust get back? how much does the service costs you know? all lenses will get dust inside eventually?…just got the 70-200mm f/2.8
yes but so far i …
yes but so far i have had the 18-200 for 2 years and there is a bit of dust inside but it never shows up on any images. to get rid of that sort of stuff you have to send the lens away to professionals
also try to never use my breath to clean.
mono pod for long …
mono pod for long exposures??? NOOOOOOO!
mono = 1 one leg is not stable. get a tripod
The dirt, hair, …
The dirt, hair, dust can get around the zoom range and the focus ring…what do we use to get rid of it? you notice this on your other lens?
What do you use to clean the front lens element? just your breadth and a micro cloth?
great video, i have …
great video, i have several questions for you…people use a monopod for this lens with the camera D90…is a monopod good for taking night photography with long exposure? the monopod is only for morning shooting only or what? from the look at the monopod…i don’t know why people would use it cuz it seems it doesn’t have like legs to hold the camera still right?

all i said was that …
all i said was that with the extra battery pack it feels more evenly weighted.
Totally correct! …
Totally correct! The stress is _not_ reduced on the lens flange by adding a battery pack. It might help balance in handheld ..but does nothing re: the strain..as mentioned. The real secret..wait for it..A TRIPOD! That’s why Nikon so thougtfully included a tripod mounting collar! Cheers!
Whats the name of …
Whats the name of the song in the beginning?
Cool. One …
Cool. One misleading bit though, people might think you mean that when a battery pack is added, the stress on the mount is reduced.
think about carying …
think about carying it around from 10 am untill 10pm for a wedding! or running along with a sports event like a marathon (i did this last week for the edinburgh marathon and it would have been a nightmare with this lens not only for its weight but also trying to cycle with this monster hanging from my neck would not have been nice.
I don’t get the …
I don’t get the comments about weight, with preparation its a non issue. A couple of sets of weights three times a week will stand you in good stead.
In fact if you have an exercise regime anyway lighter lenses can be too light to control properly.
To tell you the …
To tell you the truth,i didn’t try it in fast action things yet! Generally speaking,in portraits and stationary objects…it’s really awesome..colours,sharpness and the bokeh effect looks very natural!! It’s heavy and build quality is awesome, sharpness wide open is awesome and when stopepd to f4 it’s incredibly sharp!I’ll keep u posted when i start shooting fast actions!Regarding the AF speed …it’s really adequate for me…so far
I have got a friend …
I have got a friend who had that lens and it made great photos especially for wild life, but he got really frustrated with it when trying to follow any action even at a slow jog pace the lens couldnt keep up with the people. how have you found it or are you using it mostly for portrait and wildlife?
since i couldn’t …
since i couldn’t afford that lens,i went witht he other choice…80-200 f2.8D AF…beleive me.nothing less than stunning!!
FI u r thinking of a f2.8,consider this one!!
NIce review by the way
Keep shooting!
