    Remastered = …
    Remastered = Cartoon-like

  2. georger64 says:

    I, for one, still …
I, for one, still have LPs, and a very nice turntable, too. Now everybody who chucked theirs in the 90s is buying cheap USB record players. I guess I got the last laugh…
Star Trek is TV history, and tempering with it is a crappy idea. What makes TOS so watchable is its outdatedness!

    o_O

  4. DLPBurke says:

    So in other words, …
So in other words, they must have still had the original blue screen data saved in order to be able to place new backgrounds on them yes?

  5. pat1981lux says:

    You can hear that …
You can hear that song on Star Trek The Motion Picture while Kirk is flying to the Enterprise and discovering how she has been refit.

  6. NunyaDBusiness1 says:

    Remaster everything …
Remaster everything! It looks so much better and extracts a large quantity of cheesiness.

  7. Televisionmaven says:

    Stunningly nice …
Stunningly nice appearance, but at :35 the dates don’t match. Remember a star date unit equals one-tenth of a day.

  8. IfThisFailsOfficial says:

    Hey John, if we …
Hey John, if we join your crew, do we get to call you “master bates?”
Yeah, immature but it had to be said
    (=

  9. TourqeGlare says:

    Rated 5 for Jerry …
    Rated 5 for Jerry Goldsmith

  10. CaptainJohnBates says:

    I’am starting a …
I’am starting a crew and will be going into space on a ship I designed and will go to NASA and have them build it and I will need crew members but I’am in charge of the ship and i need to fill positions so if you are a scientist or a doctor or a weapon specialist or engineer, or cook, or know how to do computers on a ship or if you are an astronomer. You can join me and we will go into space.

  11. CaptainJohnBates says:

    My ship will be …
My ship will be better whne it’s done, becasue I’m going to have NASA do it.

  12. suthernbelle says:

    Thanks for the …
Thanks for the comparison, I was worried that I’d have to buy the 2004 version on ebay because of the remastered versions but these aren’t all CGIed out’ like I had feared!

  13. Grimbot2 says:

    ILM should re-do …
    ILM should re-do remastering,
They’d make much more realistic looking CGI.

  14. potatoradio says:

my only beef is the …
my only beef is the battleship grey Enterprise – IT WAS SUPOSED TO BE WHITE – why cause it was a ship of exploration – friendly, nice, not a threat – hey lets face it ya realy want to be taticaly correct it should be jet black. with out windows or flashing lights… Just love some nameless geek dumped on an intentional – reasonable part of the design from the designer of the avanti, f-106 fighter, and modern coke bottle. ok bad mate paintings and painted styrofoam another argument completely…

  15. R8erNation636 says:

    It’s from Star Trek …
It’s from Star Trek: TMP’s soundtrack. I think it’s called “The Enterprise.”

  16. edgemadboy says:

    Nice music, ¿what …
Nice music, ¿what it is the name of the song?

  17. WWIIOLgeorgh says:

    The changes are IMO …
The changes are IMO largely minor, some even bring it closer to what the special effects guys wanted it to look like. Case in point, the “Planet Eater”. Some even add legibility to otherwise illegible scenes, like the Psi 2000 station. , they almost added a TOSified Miranda class to “The Ultimate Computer”, but decided not to because it would have really caused fits among purists.

The stardate counter is kinda… weird, though. I would have prefered it as it was, but whatever.

  18. JoeNostalgiaReturns says:

    Yes, all three …
Yes, all three seasons are available on DVD.
First season is also on Blu-Ray.

  19. JoeNostalgiaReturns says:

    They didn’t add any …
They didn’t add any new scenes, they just redid most of special effects or had color correction for scenes.

Not sure about the DVD versions but on Blu-Ray you can change angles so that you can see both the Remastered and Original cuts at the push of a button.

  20. TheRealYoda1 says:

Can you tell me if …
Can you tell me if they just redid the scenes and not add anything? Because if so, then I am getting it or perhaps downloading it. But don’t they include the original episode as well as the remastered one?

  21. bs40 says:

    But unless they …
But unless they remaster them, how could they ride on the back of a new film release and get people to buy *another* box set!

I love the originals (still have them all on VHS!) but I’m sure new comers will shy away from the wobbly sets for the flash digital alternatives.

Good comparison by the way – thanks!

  22. Droog21 says:

    Good comparison
    Good comparison

  23. tripsadelica says:

    I’m not sure of …
I’m not sure of your geographical location, lisduggan64, but in Australia you can buy the special boxed sets of TOS which have only been cleaned up, picture-wise. I’m sure if you go somewhere on the web like MovieMars you’ll find what you want. :)

  24. JoeNostalgiaReturns says:

    The Trek …
The Trek remastering isn’t nearly as bad at the Wars ones.
They didn’t add scenes of new CGI character to the show.
They didn’t digitally replace the actors faces with young celebrities.
I like the old look and style of the show compared to the CGI but the most important thing is getting the story across and these effects work.
The new versions of the original Star Wars films are unwatchable.
Remastered Star Trek just looks more metallic.

  25. lisduggan64 says:

    Which ones are …
Which ones are those? There’s a few versions out there now and I’m not sure which ones to pick up
