Consumer Reports 2008 Bottom Line of Auto Companies (Part 2)

This video was put together for a friend with whom I agreed to give an annual report from Consumer Reports every December on Auto Companies. CR isn’t 100% accurate, but they give you the general idea. Like the Ford truck in the background. That truck has been MUCH MORE RELIABLE than CR said it would.

Based on the December 2008 Consumer Reports magazine, here are the results for 2008. Also, here is the status of the big 3 domestic auto companies:

GM sales: -41% GM trucks: -39% GM cars: -44% Request from the $700 billion bailout: $18 billion

Chrysler sales: -47%
Request from the $700 billion bailout: $11 billion

Ford sales: -30%
Request from the $700 billion bailout: $9 billion
However, Ford’s sales have increased over the past two months, mainly because of increasing sales of the F series trucks.

TOYOTA SHOULD BUY THE BIG GM

then our economy would suck even worse and there would be less jobs…

  5. Diesel4me2 says:

    Consumer reports …
Consumer reports just looks like a bunch of idiots making biased statements like that.

Chrysler builds VERY reliable vehicles. They always have actually, but the fuel economy on some models, & customer service department could be a little better. That’s about it really.

  6. paintballman010 says:

    Honda should buy GM …
Honda should buy GM and Ford.

    its isn’t really …
its isn’t really about the products its about how Chevy sells the most and loses money
while Toyota sells less and makes more money
    than Gm ever did.
Do not compare Japanese built in America
there isnt much difference except in design
Japanese from Japan still make Detroit look bad in quality and durability.

    their trucks lag …
their trucks lag behind but ford’ cars are alot better because they are mostly foreign now
not because Americans build better cars Americans can’t build cars at all
they are good at agriculture and health work

Chrysler and Gm are not viable business
    models

  14. makaveli087 says:

    I agree Chrysler …
I agree Chrysler shouldn’t be looking to merge or be acquired by another automaker, although I’d like to see Porsche/Audi get ahold of them. I wish Benz would’ve stuck it out with them, rather than sucking them dry and tossing them away. What gets me, is Cerberus’s lack of interest in Chrysler, their disregard for a company they payed pennys on the dollar for. Cerberus could buy and sell GM once a month, if they wanted to, yet they’ve got Chrysler CEO’s asking the government for a bailout.

  15. FrontalTraction says:

    They all got a …
They all got a bailout today.

  16. BRENTHENRY1989 says:

    this is another …
this is another great video, and we all don’t like what the consumer reports say about our favorite cars/trucks, but we all have to accept that our trucks and cars can suffer in areas and be really good in other areas, and each auto maker can have lemons, and high mileage wonders!, its a roll or the dice, and these reports have to be take serious on some level. and i am not looking for a fight, i am agreeing with Danieljauger, and the numbers don’t lie!

  17. DanielJaegerFilms says:

    I think it’s $1 per …
I think it’s $1 per issue, or you can order two years for $20.00 or three years for $28.00

  18. powerstroker14 says:

    Great video. I will …
Great video. I will say I have been bias about Ford being the best truck in the world. This video sort of made me realize that hey, they all have t heir ups and downs. How much does that magazine cost?

  19. 1997Powerstroke350 says:

    I don’t know……. …
I don’t know…….if you ask me, Ford has always been top of the line (except the late ’80′s and early 90′s, but then again all auto makers were mostly crap then). Sure, Toyota has good cars, but honestly, Toyota doesn’t even have a diesel truck and still have to make a truck that can tow over 10,000 lbs. I mean come on, American production trucks are the only ones that can tow over 20K lbs now. I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m disagreeing with these magazines and their biased liberal agenda.

  20. DanielJaegerFilms says:

    Yeah, that’s one …
Yeah, that’s one thing I’ll never understand about JD Powers. I never did trust them when I saw them giving good scores to questionable brands. Also, these comparison companies sometimes contradict each other. For example, The top rated Hotel for JD Power was way down the list for CR. Interesting, isn’t it? And just like CR predicted the reliability on this truck wouldn’t as good as this truck has been. Thanks again for the comment.

  21. ChevroletBowtie says:

    Great video Daniel, …
Great video Daniel, but listening to consumer reports is not the way to go.

    JD Powers=Phoney
    Car&Driver=Phoney
    Motor Trend=Phoney
    Kelly Blue Book=Phoney

and ect.JD powers only sets reliablity to what they think(futrure reliablity)

Just remember JD powers rated the Silverado 3 1/2 stars in reliablity but should I remind you of my friends 2005 Silverado with 507,000?
