Coheed and Cambria- Time Consumer

From the concept album by progressive metal band Coheed and Cambria, “The Second Stage Turbine Blade”.

Monstar…the virus that can take out a whole star transformer, sending planets in the Keywork spiraling towards one another, crushing Heaven’s Fence one populus at a time. Coheed Kilgannon, his body harboring a vile secret, heeds the advice of the great Tri-Mage’s cohorts…

With baneful toxins in hand, Coheed deals with his pain as he shatters the souls of his children…

  2. Velourium says:

    this post is pretty …
    this post is pretty argumentative

  3. Velourium says:

    Last time I checked …
Last time I checked, commas should be used where applicable. Do you see how annoying and unnecessary that is?

Lol Tool fan. You probably think Tool is progressive, too.

If you really want Coheed and Cambria to be prog-rock, which I don’t at all, then you should really be unhappy with the direction they took.

  4. Lateralus03 says:

    Last time I checked …
Last time I checked you don’t put question marks after statements? Also, you’re ging up this entire youtube page with your ing child logic. Your stupidity outweighs your judgement on how manufactured bands are. If you’d get your head out of your and realize you don’t know everything about progressive rock, we could all relax and pretend this never happened. But you’re just too ing persistent and everyone on Youtube hates you. Congratulations

  5. Velourium says:

I could just be an …
I could just be an and point out the your/you’re mistake you made, but instead I’m going to give you a couple comparisons…

Crossing the Frame : Cuts Marked….
Feathers : Devil in Jersey City
Once Upon Your Dead Body : Delirium Trigger
Justice in Murder : Three Evils

you’re really going to tell me that the former in any case is better than the latter? It’s not about fame. It’s about a horrible decline of one of my favorite bands ever. It’s just flat-out disappointing.

  6. Velourium says:

    that’s such a dumb …
that’s such a dumb statement? They didn’t want any of this fame? Are you kidding me? I’m not faulting them for becoming famous, I was DYING to have them get famous knowing that I knew them before many people did. I loved that they got pretty big after AFHA and were on MTV every day. What I didn’t love was the awful excuse for an album they put out after that. It’s the music, not the fame that was the decline.

  7. Velourium says:

    see you just prove …
see you just prove my point. It’s electronica and folk for those who know nothing of electronica and folk

  8. Lateralus03 says:

    C&C was a group of …
C&C was a group of kids in north jersey who wanted to put together a band with scifi lyrics. They didn’t ask for any of this fame. Millions of kids and adults alike can vouch for them. Guess that makes you look like an over-analystic douchebag, doesn’t it?

  9. shmooi26 says:

    your a retard, this …
your a retard, this goes right along with metallica too in the first fans love it but then as more albums come out and the fan base grows the old fans turn into dicks oh they sold out and the new stuff sucks so cram a ing in your retarded mouth and dont be an , i know more about kicking than you so shut the up

Hey vel, eat balls face. :D

  11. Leehighside says:

    Why is there always …
Why is there always a ing argument with you people? Song is good…OK move on. I mean What Tha is wrong with you ers??? Enjoy and STFU!!!!

  12. ltgreatsocks says:

So let me get this …
So let me get this straight, your opinion is rational and anyone who disagrees with you doesn’t have an opinion? That’s awesome. You should write books. Maybe, instead of trolling with Coheed fans on the page for a Coheed song you should go troll somewhere else.

  13. painreliefmatt says:

    And I guess your …
And I guess your taste is all in your mouth.

  14. lycantear says:

    the prizefighter …
the prizefighter inferno was and still is a good side project the reason that being is that its a less rough and gruff and more laid back and slow theres hardly any ear splitting riffs in their songs

  15. lycantear says:

    i understand maybe …
i understand maybe breaking benjamin, NICKLE BACK no c&c are way to hardcore for nickleback those slackjaw yokles

  16. Velourium says:

    I know more about …
I know more about Coheed and Cambria, especially their foundations and early on in their career, as most people. I just am not a zealot. There are two types of Coheed fans. Those who are rational and know and admit that the first two albums were brilliant and then they lost it. Then there are those who will buy anything this band puts out and love it unconditionally because it makes them feel important to like a band that thinks it’s progressive. case in point: The prizefighter inferno.

  17. Velourium says:

    1. progressive is …
    1. progressive is not a synonym for good
    2. prog-rock is a genre now. music doesn’t have to actually be progressive in the macroscopic sense to be considered prog-rock. Prog-rock can be just as formulaic as any genre.
    3. Their newest album is straightforward butt-rock in the vein of Nickelback and Breaking Benjamin. It just sounds a little bit better coming from these guys. The hound of blood and rank or whatever it’s called could be a Nickelback song.
    4. I’d like you to list the other 2.

  18. ltgreatsocks says:

    How can you say …
How can you say what they were TRYING to do? Did Claudio and his crew call you up and discuss their plans? When you say like that it makes you sound like a who doesn’t know what the he’s talking about.

  19. painreliefmatt says:

    I guess your taste …
I guess your taste is all in your mouth.

  20. spudd2k8 says:

    what are the other …
what are the other two may I ask
    CaC Rules

  21. munin616 says:

    velourium shut the …
velourium shut the up CaC are one of the three most progressive bands of our time maybe the latest two dont sound the way you think they shoud based off keeping secrets and second stage but that in no way means that it is any less intricate or progressive

  22. codebabe says:

    the counterpoint …
the counterpoint and twin harmony guitar parts are very progressive, as are the complex basslines, time changes, and bits of exotic melodies and string arrangements as well. and their comic books are deep and interesting. they’re nothing like kiss’s goofy comics back in the day. I’m not trying to tell you to like it, I’m just saying you definitely are selling them short of the respect they deserve.btw they dont sound like versions of their favorite bands at all. anyhow lets end this discussion.

  23. Velourium says:

    it’s imitation prog …
it’s imitation prog. They were better when they just played music without just giving us a bad version of their favorite bands. Before they made the comic books and graphic novels, and all the wannabe-KISS merchandise. Time Consumer is a fine example of this great period in their history. The Light in the Glass was a prog song by nature, but once they started TRYING to be prog, they fell apart
I wasn’t really calling names either. Just a way to describe the music, albeit in a pejorative manner.

  24. codebabe says:

    uh…no. the guitar …
uh…no. the guitar tones are very pink floyd on that track. and actually its one song comprised four different tracks that are all 7 minutes each, ultimately being around 28 minutes…nonetheless they’re new stuff is very tasteful. nothing is overly show-offy. if you think it is, try listening to yngwie malmsteen(nothing against him, he’s amazing) and you will see what show-off music truly is. coheed’s two recent albums are prog rock gold…and why the name calling? It’s not that big a deal.lol

  25. Velourium says:

    lol. Sorry, I guess …
lol. Sorry, I guess I meant cheesedick.

seriously, there is nothing “pink floyd” about their jams except that they named a song The Final Cut. Wow, seven minute songs…cheesedick.
