Where can they get type ratings for aircrafts.
Are there any flight schools in California or nearby states that provide type rating courses for A340/A330, B737ng?
Pan Am has B737ng sims in Las Vegas, USAir in PHX, UAL in DEN.
K&S Aviation in PHX is a good school http://www.kandsaviation.com/
different flight schools. Flight safety is one. Do an online search.

Usually the airline that you’re working for will get you the type. Why pay for one when the airline will pick up the tab? If you do want to buy your own, there are plenty of outfits out there who’ll get you your 737 type. You might want to do a bit of digging for the A-330 and 340 types. Before they merged with Delta, Northwest could get you any type in anything that they had a simulator for. I don’t know if they do that any more.

Most pilots get any type ratings they need through their employer. A notable exception is the 737 type rating because Southwest requires all of their pilots to have it prior to starting work for them. Thus, lots of would-be Southwest pilots wind up paying for it themselves (something that brings down the industry but whatever). There are several schools throughout the USA that offer that type rating. Location is usually not a factor as people who are willing to pay for that are willing to pay for a plane ticket to get there (or they have travel benefits through the current Airline they work for).
I’d have to ask though, why are you willing to shell out close to $10,000 for one of those type ratings?
