How does a youtube video get more ratings the views?

How come when i watch a youtube video I notice the youtube video has more ratings then actual views? I mean didnt all of those people who rated have to watch the video before rating?

The reason there are more rating than views is because the number of the views does not update as fast as the ratings does.

i dont think it’s 100percent accurate. sometimes when I post a listing on ebay or a video on youtube it will show like 4 views when I JUST listed/loaded it. I know what you mean though! doesn’t make much sense really.

You have a good point there…
I’ve been a Youtuber for a while now and I have never noticed that before. Maybe it isn’t how many people have rated but how many stars is has. Or maybe its just youtube stuffing up a bit or something like that. It also could be something people can download off the internet like a cheat to add extra views or extra ratings.

    Hope I helped :D xx

Actually it does make sense. Typically, this happens on videos that get thousands of views in a short amount of time. What happens is that so many people watch and rate that youtube is unable to sync properly.

After about 300 views in a short time, youtube considers it a popular video and disables automatic updates to your views. They use a more accurate system to count your views and update the number every few hours. So if you see a new video that has more ratings than views, its because ratings automatically update, but the views take a few hours.
