The people who go to that church look like the world. When we confront the same group of people, on the streets when we proclaim the gospel, they hate us because they love their sin.
That church is an apostasy and anyone who goes to it will die w/ it once Christ judges the churches of America.

Funny, I just read a quote from driscoll that says “interviews are for guys that wear sans-a-belt slacks and chew sugar free gum.” What happened to that? Oh yeah he is just being consistent in his inconsistencies… This man misinterprets so many things in Christianity and half of his “verses” you can’t find in the bible where he says they are..

I greatly appreciate your tact in briefly criticizing Pastor Driscoll. Rarely are people able to discuss their disagreements without personall attacking him. My question is this: What forum would you prefer? Keeping in mind, the service is over and people are free to leave if the please. Would we send them out into to world to discuss sex in far more vulgar manors?

I respect a lot of what Mark Driscoll has to say (not all but most), and I think he is generally solid on his knowledge of scripture. I was, however, disappointed with the way nightline presented his “story line.” I also wish that Driscoll would use a little more discression in the way he presents topics like sex… I think there is a forum for those questions and I would have to say a church service isn’t necassarily a place in which topics like “sexual positions” should be presented.

What is sad, is that people like you won’t accept correction, even though it’s the word of God that corrects Heb 4:12-14 However, if you think you are above God’s authority and that Mark Driscoll is too, then it follows you will not accept correction, hence your comments. God’s word produces fruit 1 Peter 1:23 “Being born again not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, by the Word of God that liveth and abideth forever.” Teaching that is not biblical corrupts.

seriously buddy? its a sad day when one christian tells another they wont see each other in Heaven. Makes me wonder if your heart has been truely regenerated/made new. As for the first part, Mark didn’t save me, but his teaching (like is his job) led me to salvation. At the end of the day, Mark worships Jesus, i worship Him, and I hope you do too. Do you know what the standards are for a pastor? He is to be above reproach in every way especially his speech so that the world cannot acuse him of any wrongs and this is because as a pastor you have more responsibility than the people in the congregation. Look up eph. 5:3-4 it talks about no coaarse jesting

So it seems to me that you’re hearing him talk about sex and masturbation and automatically saying that he thinks it’s all fair game.
Listen to him talk about sex- he’ll say what it is- an amazing, fantastic, wonderful thing between two people who are dedicated to each other and no one else. He’ll also say that if you do it outside of marriage or it’s between two people of the same sex or if you do it by yourself in front of your computer, then you’re spitting on God and disrespecting yourself.

Don’t be such a prude. You’re the religious hypocrite the Bible speaks about. Mark’s not doing anything wrong. Just because he doesn’t wear a suit doesn’t mean anything. Being a pastor doesen’t mean being sinless. He’s reformed and orthodox in doctrine. Firstly, it wasn’t Mark Driscoll who saved you, it was by the grace of God that you were saved. Once saved we become new creatures in Christ, and we turn away from sin….all sin, including sexual sin. Those who practice a different lifestyle are not born again. Mark Driscoll’s teachings promote sexual impurity through advocating masturbation amonst other things. If you think the same way, then we will not meet in heaven. Mat 7:23 Depart from me you evil doers I never knew you.

I’m sorry we waisted so much time arguing this pointless topic. We should agree to disagree. I got fired up when you said he is going to . The focus should always be on Jesus. Jesus is using Mark and Mars Hill Church and is bringing many people to a relationship with Christ. This is something to be celebrated. I would really suggest listening to some sermons, and being more informed before making such claims. He is one of the great bible teachers in our country.

Look Neil, clearly you won’t see the wood for the trees….your loss. Why would anyone masturbate UNLESS it was ociated with sexual thoughts? And what do you think those thoughts are….pure and without ? It is not a “touchy” subject it is a willful act of disobedience by an individual who puts carnal desire before spiritual obedience. He tells a story about someone else that used a verse out of context , and it is funny, and he explained why he was wrong. If Romans 6:11 is your verse, you are uming that masturbation is a sin. If your thoughts are sinful while masturbating then the act is sinful as well. it’s a touchy subject and you are reaching to prove your point. I would suggest doing more research on a person before you start dragging some ones name through the mud. He’s a great bible teacher, check out more sermons.

Driscoll says “the bible doesn’t mention masturbation” and strongly implies that due to this, masturbation is acceptable, he even uses a quote from the bible to make it seem humourous. This isn’t just blasphemous but it’s FALSE TEACHING. Rom 6:11 “therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires…….For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.”

Your defence of the indefencible is exactly what one would expect when clear biblical doctrine is not applied. Regarding judgement? It is the Lord who judges and He does it through His word, which every believer is commanded to read, so as to be aware of false teaching. I suggest you go to the bible for instruction rather than relying on someone whose ‘controversial’ approach is exactly that….at variance with the word of God.

I’ve never heard Mark say that he’s an expert about sex. As for is ego issues, at least he is honest about what he struggles with. Do you have to be perfect to be a good leader? Mars Hill Church went through the song of solomon and this got a lot of hype because Mark doesn’t shy away from the controversial topics. Saying someone is only preaching on sex to get popular is pretty judgmental. You may want to do a little more research about Driscoll and Mars Hill Church before making such claims.
