Does anyone know what ratings (jobs) in the Navy transfer over to good, high paying careers in the civilian sector, once you get out of service? I would guess technical fields in computers, but im not sure.

I was never all that great at learning all the Naval Ratings.
However, i’m pretty sure that any rating that sends you to Nuclear Power School will transfer to a good job in the civilian sector.

most jobs in the navy will get you something good on the outside even if its not related to what your trained for. My uncle was a aviation mechanic and then went to work for cal trans working on roads.

The highest paying jobs for the Navy are anything in the Nuke field, followed by Electronics, IT and Air Traffic Control. However, as pointed out earlier, most jobs in the navy will give you experience and typically result in being able to get a fair paying job. One caveat to the Nuke field…it is probably one of the if not the hardest career fields to get through, academically speaking. Nuke school is HARD and an average of 25-35% of the people that start, don’t finish for various reasons. Academic failure, alcohol incidents, etc…
