I signed up for Consumer Reports, but unfortunately they only have ratings/reviews/recommendations for cordless drills. I would like to find a Consumer Reports style alternative that covers corded drills.
Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking run tests and comparisons each year. They put out a "tool Guide" that you can find at Home Centers and both have web sites. I am a finish carpenter and have used Makita cordless drills for about 15 years. I have never had one completely die on me. When I am looking at any new tools I usually go to amazon and click on the "read all reviews". People are usually very good about writing accurate reviews there.
