Why do people give out negative ratings for answers that are obviously right?

I often answer questions that have a definite answer, not opinion questions. I’ll give the right anwer and even provide backup yet I’ll receive 6 negative ratings and 1 positive. Meanwhile, 10 other people have the same answer (becuase it’s right) and they also will get negative ratings.

Sometimes little ‘answer gangs’ will do this to try to increase there own scores. I’ve noticed that there is often one person that gets way too many Positives while others are getting negatives… they’re usually part of one of these ‘gangs’

It’s because the people who rate the questions are jealous because they didn’t think of it.

It could be for many reasons. Maybe it’s jealousy, or maybe they don’t like reading long and thorough responses.
